Focus Is All You Need

Don't expect this essay to become a foundation of a new revolution in AI :)) IYKYK

One of the things I'm super grateful to my family is that from early childhood, somehow they managed to involve me in travelling experiences outside our tiny country. And you know, travelling and changing environments in particular can be super beneficial time to time.

Long story short, about a month ago, Nika came up with an idea to travel to the UK, and after getting our visas in just 3 days, here we are on a founders retreat in London :)))

Besides all the good things you breathe in while walking through London, there's one particular feeling here that's the complete opposite of what I feel back home. The environment is far less distractive. Tbilisi (the city I'm from) is full of social distractions. It's a relatively small place, so you keep running into the same people and the same spots, again, again and agaain. The whole vibe leans toward having fun and being chill rather than putting your head down and working your ass off.

With my self-diagnosed ADHD(my friends calling it HDMI tho :))) staying focused all the time is hard. It's like a spidey-sense tingle that keeps dragging my attention even from behind. So a lot comes down to the environment for me. There are things I can control in my micro-environment to help me focus, but there's also the bigger environment around me that I just can't change.

And yet, should this be an excuse for losing my focus? of course NOT! In fact, every successful person I know back home is great at exactly this: ignoring the distractions and setting boundaries to stay focused on what actually matters. For sure, that's the skill I'm constantly working on and encourage you to do so as well.

But can everyone build that skill completely alone in a chaotic environment? Tbh, I think it’s okay to admit that your current environment sucks, change it and see if it helps. Will it make difference for you? Idk, but if you never try, you never knooooow ♫♫♫
